DIY Vitamin C Serum
This last year my mom and I have completely refurbished our skin care routines since finding out about the Korean-10-Step-Skincare and both of our skin has been completely transformed. However finding products that fit into this routine that are cruelty free, vegan and natural was near impossible. So I figured why not make them myself? I have been doing that with face masks and gotten results that far surpass that of store bought products. So why not?
I spent months researching which natural ingredients treat the skin issues my mom and I wanted to address. This Vitamin C serum is the best thing that has come from all that research. My mom has been raving about it since the first time she used it and I understand why. My skin has never glowed nor been as smooth and soft as it is when I use this serum. My mom's skin has never looked better either. For the first time in her life she is getting compliments on her skin.
Although my mom and I have different skin concerns this Vitamin C serum works wonders on both of our concerns. It is anti-aging, fights acne and treats hyper-pigmentation. It also treats many other skin concerns so lets get into why this has become my holy grail skincare product.
Stimulates Collagen
Vitamin C stimulates collagen of the skin by stimulating fibroblast activity, the most common cell that produces collagen.
Slows Down The Aging Process
"They fight against free-radical assaults (things like
UV rays, sun exposure, pollution and cigarette smoke) by neutralizing oxidative
stress that causes cell damage, which, in excess and over time, results in signs
of aging" says dermatologist Dendy Engelman. It also prevents skin glycation, the spontaneous reaction between sugars and the proteins in your skin, which damages collagen molecules. This hardens the skin, making it less supple and leads to wrinkles and sagging.
Fades Hyperpigmentation
Vitamin C lightens pigmentation and evens out skin by reducing melanin production after an inflammatory break out.
Reduces Inflamation
Studies show that vitamin C is able to strengthen blood vessels and and improves the damage done to red skin prone.
Hydrates Skin
More studies have shown that vitamin C reduces the roughness of skin, which is said to be due to the it boosting collagen production.
Shrinks Pores
Pres look large because of collagen loss. By stimulating collagen and thickening the skin Vitamin C makes your pores look smaller.
Now that you know a few of the benefits that come from Vitamin C here is my recipe for homemade serum.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp Vitamin C Powder
- 1 tsp of Potent Rooibos Tea with Honey
- 4 tbsp Glycerin
- 10 drops orange essential oil
- A dark coloured container to store
Directions:
